Today the National Hall of Fame announced the candidates on the 2016 Pre-integration Era ballot. Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams was named as one of the 10 candidates. This marks a major milestone in the efforts to have Doc recognized with enshrinement. For a more detailed announcement read DOC ADAMS HELPED SHAPE BASEBALL’S EARLIEST DAYS. 170th Anniversary of the Knickerbockers

On September 23, 1845, by virtue of its constitution and by-laws, the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club was officially formed. Considered by most baseball historians to have been the first officially organized base ball (2 words in the 19th century) club; whether or not the Knickerbockers were the first, their pioneering influence on the development of our National Pastime in its earliest days is certainly agreed upon. The Doc Adams’ Old Time Base Ball Festival

The 18th Annual Old Time Base Ball Festival was held this past weekend (August 1-2, 2015)  at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. It was a great event as ballists and cranks alike enjoyed the beautiful weather and entertaining games. A highlight of the weekend was the announcement that the Festival would be renamed in honor of Doc Adams. Marjorie Adams was on hand to receive a plaque commemorating the event and shared her knowledge of her great-grandfather’s accomplishments and contributions to the game.
