The Fashion Race Course games were played between All-Star teams (pick nines) comprised of the finest New York area players versus the finest Brooklyn area players and was the 1st real All-Star Series. It was also the 1st time admission was charged to watch a game. The 1st game was held on July 20, 1858 and won by the New York team 22-15. The 2nd game was played on August 17, 1858 and Brooklyn evened the series with a 29-8 victory. On September 25, the Doc Adams Birthplace Classic will make its return in Doc’s hometown as part of Lamson Farm Day. Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams was born in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire on November 1, 1814 to Daniel Adams, MD and Nancy Mulliken Adams. He and his family lived there until 1846 when they moved to Keene, New Hampshire. On July 31, 2014, Daniel Lucius “Doc” Adams (1814 – 1899) was selected as the 19th Century Overlooked Baseball Legend by the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). This recognition came in the bi-centennial of his birth. Each year SABR honors a 19th century player, manager, executive or other baseball personality not yet inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. The 2021 Annual Doc Adams Old Time Base Ball  Festival will take place next weekend, July 31 – August 1, at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. In 2015, this longest running annual vintage base ball festival was renamed in honor of Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams. The festival is a must for baseball fans, history buffs, and anyone looking for a a day of outdoor fun. Nancy Adams Downey, a great-granddaughter of Doc Adams, will be on-hand on Saturday. The longest running Vintage Base Ball festival of its kind was renamed in honor of Doc Adams in 2015.
