Just a little fun today, I recently did a search for ‘doc adams baseball’ on three major search engines over the span of a ‘week’, a ‘month’, and ‘all time’ and thought I’d share the interesting results. For the period of the last week, both DuckDuckGo and Bing came up with some good Doc content. Google came up empty. Over the span of the last month, both DuckDuckGo and Bing performed very well and Google got in the mix, rating DocAdamsBaseBall.org as #1. When it came to ‘all time’, all 3 search engines did well. Annual Doc Adams Old Time Base Ball Festival Next Weekend

The 25th installment of the Annual Doc Adams Old Time Base Ball Festival will take place next weekend, August 6-7, at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. In 2015, this longest running annual vintage base ball festival of its kind was renamed in honor of Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams. The festival is a must for baseball fans, history buffs, and anyone looking for a a day of outdoor fun. Nancy Adams Downey, a great-granddaughter of Doc Adams, will be on-hand on Saturday. Bud Fowler, Gil Hodges, Jim Kaat, Minnie Miñoso, Buck O’Neil, Tony Oliva, and David Ortiz were inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on this past Sunday. It had been a long time coming for many of them, We had hoped that this year would have been the end of a long wait for Doc Adams, and his contributions and accomplishments would finally be honored in Cooperstown with a plaque. Congratulations to all those that will be inducted today: Bud Fowler, Gil Hodges, Jim Kaat, Minnie Miñoso, and Buck O’Neil, Tony Oliva, and David Ortiz, as well as Tim Kurkjian (BBWAA’s Career Excellence Award} and Jack Graney (Ford C. Baseball Americana At The Library Of Congress

In 2018, The Library of Congress hosted the Baseball Americana exhibition.  The ‘Laws of  Base Ball” authored by Doc Adams was the centerpiece of this major, year-long exhibition. The exhibition explored baseball’s past and present and how the game forged a sense of community for players and fans across the country. “The founding documents of baseball that would shape the modern game as our national pastime were ironed out in January and February 1857 at a convention called by the Knickerbockers Base Ball Club in New York City. Just came across this on the Jamaica Observer website. 1892: Despite Daniel Lucius “Doc” Adams, president of the New York Knickerbockers Base Ball Club, authoring documents titled the Laws of Base Ball in 1857 which established the essentials of the modern game, Alexander Cartwright is credited as the American inventor of modern baseball in 1860.
