2022 Michigan Vintage Base Ball Festival Remembers Marjorie Adams
The 2022 Michigan Vintage Base Ball Festival was held June 24-26 in Frankenmuth, MI.
As usual, it was successful festival and a grand time was had by all.
The Cornhuskers Base Ball Club of Canton successfully defended the Michigan State Cup twice defeating the Bear Clan BBC of Flat Rock, MI and Walker Tavern Wheels of Brooklyn, MI.
The following Kings were “crowned”:
King of Clubs – Captain’s Match Most Valuable Ballist: Mark Pisanello, The Crossing Rails BBC of Alliance, OH
King of Diamonds – Gingerly Gentleman: Joe Terwilliger, Cornshuckers Base Ball Club of Canton, MI
King of Spades – Mightiest Striker: Jimmy Seviour, Atlantics BBC of Brooklyn, NY
King of Hearts – Skills field Champion Trevor Gogola, Cornshuckers Base Ball Club of Canton
What was of most interest to us however, was that the Festival honored the late Marjorie Adams, Doc’s great-grandaughter and most ardent advocate. Field #6 at the Festival was named “The Marjorie Adams” field in her memory. I was especially moved as the sign included one of my favorites of photos Marjorie, one I took when my wife, Cathy, and I brought Marjorie to her 1st Major League game, at Citi Field. Lots of happy memories. A heartfelt thank you for remembering and honoring Marjorie.
Special thanks to Matthew Barnard for sharing the information with us.
