170th Anniversary of the Knickerbockers

On September 23, 1845, by virtue of its constitution and by-laws, the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club was officially formed. Considered by most baseball historians to have been the first officially organized base ball (2 words in the 19th century) club; whether or not the Knickerbockers were the first, their pioneering influence on the development of our National Pastime in its earliest days is certainly agreed upon. Roger Cook Adams Interview Posted

In January 1962, Adelaide and Daniel P. Adams conducted an interview of Roger Cook Adams in New York City. Fortunately for us, they made an audio recording of that interview. Now you can hear Roger’s recollections about his father, baseball pioneer Dr. Daniel Lucius Adams, baseball, and the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club. Marjorie Adams attended a Sunday afternoon doubleheader on September 13, between the Dirigo Vintage Base Ball Club and the Boston-based New England Picked Nine in Waldoboro, ME. The Doc Adams’ Old Time Base Ball Festival

The 18th Annual Old Time Base Ball Festival was held this past weekend (August 1-2, 2015)  at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. It was a great event as ballists and cranks alike enjoyed the beautiful weather and entertaining games. A highlight of the weekend was the announcement that the Festival would be renamed in honor of Doc Adams. Marjorie Adams was on hand to receive a plaque commemorating the event and shared her knowledge of her great-grandfather’s accomplishments and contributions to the game.

Annual Old Time Base Ball Festival Renamed in Honor of Doc Adams

The festival will be renamed in his honor to attempt to gain support for his enshrinement into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
