2021 John P. Martin All-Star Series Of 1864 Base Ball
Vintage Base Ball All-Stars will gather on Sunday September 26th for the 4th John Phillip Martin All-Star Series to benefit ALS Patient Care at historic Muzzy Field in Bristol Connecticut.
The familiar format of a three game set will be in order under the rules, customs & equipment of 1864. The All-Stars, selected by their peers, will break off into teams “Daniel” and “Lucius” as an homage to Daniel Lucius “Doc” Adams, an early baseball pioneer and New England native who is once again expected to appear on the Early Baseball Era Committee ballot for enshrinement in baseball’s Hall of Fame.
Admission is free and open to the public beginning at 10 AM. Guests are kindly requested to make an online gift to Compassion Care ALS in memory of Martin (CCALS.ORG)
In addition to remembering John Martin, the influential NESN videographer who succumbed to ALS in 2018, the program of honors will memorialize Marjorie Putnam Adams of Connecticut (a great-granddaughter of Doc Adams), Paul Salomone of New Jersey (baseball organizer and proponent of early baseball reenactment), and Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe (2020 BWAA Career Excellence Award Winner).
