Wilton Kiwanis Shows Support For Doc Adams
The Wilton Kiwanis, the 2nd largest club in New England, demonstrated support for Doc Adams by promoting our Doc Adams awareness campaign in their August 31, 2021, newsletter.
Wilton is located right next to Ridgefield, CT where Doc lived from 1865 to 1888.
Wilton Kiwanis is the longest serving volunteer organization in Wilton. They support individuals and organizations in need, with an emphasis on kids, raising funds, distributing contributions, and performing physical work to enhance Wilton and surrounding areas.
The purpose of our campaign is to advance the truth of the origins of the game of baseball and ensure that Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams is acknowledged for his contributions and achievements in the advancement of the game. For too long, his accomplishments have gone without public recognition or have been credited to others. As more complete and accurate research has documented Doc’s place in baseball history, it is time he takes his rightful, and long-overlooked, place alongside the other baseball pioneers.
John Thorn, the Official Historian of Major League Baseball and extensive researcher of the formative years of baseball in America recently stated in his Our Game blog that, “Adams is baseball’s most important figure not in the Hall of Fame…With the recent discovery of his “Laws of Base Ball” we have tangible primary evidence of his genius. More than anyone else, he created our game of nine innings, nine men, and ninety-foot base paths.”
Thanks to the Wilton Kiwanis, Jack McFadden, and Ray Shaw.
