One Week Until The Inaugural Doc Adams Invitational
On September 23, the Inaugural Doc Adams Invitational will be held in Doc’s hometown. Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams was born in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire on November 1, 1814 to Daniel Adams, MD and Nancy Mulliken Adams. He and his family lived there until 1846 when they moved to Keene, New Hampshire.
The Doc Adams Invitational is (will be) an annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Daniel Lucius Adams, an early founder of base ball and native son of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire. This event is being conducted both with and for the many fine players who engage in 19th Century Base Ball in the Northeast and beyond, in support of the push for the rightful enshrinement of Doc Adams in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Marjorie Adams, a great-granddaughter of Doc Adams, will be on-hand for the festivities. So come on down to Lamson Farm, Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, enjoy a great day of vintage 1864 rules base ball. Say hello to Marjorie and learn more about this long-overlooked founding father of the National Pastime who will hopefully someday soon be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
