An article, “Exhibit Traces Local Pastime” by Brad Parks in the Ridgefield Press, describes a Ridgefield exhibit highlighting the town’s historical ties to baseball — most notably its inclusion of Doc Adams.
The “Hometown Baseball” exhibit was curated by amateur historian David Scott.
Adams lived in Ridgefield from about 1865 to 1888 and was an active and influential member of the community. He served as the first president of the Ridgefield Savings Bank, participated on the Town School Committee (Board of Education), helped form the Land Improvement Association of Ridgefield, and was a founder of the Ridgefield Library Association. He was also elected to the Connecticut State House of Representatives and served on the building committee responsible for constructing the new “town house,” now known as Town Hall.
Scott, an architect and longtime Ridgefield resident who spent 36 years as a Little League coach, sadly passed away in 2020.
It would be fascinating to learn more about this exhibit. If you have any information, please feel free to reach out.
