Songs For Marjorie
In this last chapter of my test drive of Bing’s artificial intelligence search engine, I decided to ask it to write a couple of songs about Marjorie Adams, Doc Adams’ greatest champion. Here are two songs of different styles composed by the Chat Mode, Microsoft Bing Search. Feel free to comment on which you prefer.
A Song For Marjorie

To honor her great-grandfather’s vision

Another Song For Marjorie
She was a woman on a mission
To honor her great-grandfather’s vision

He played for the Knickerbockers and became their president
He invented the shortstop position and made nine innings standard
He helped shape the game we love today but he was forgotten
Marjorie Adams wanted to change that
She spent years doing research and spreading facts
She campaigned, she lectured, she wrote letters
She wanted to see him recognized by his peers
She took him to the Hall of Fame ballot in 2015
He came close but he missed by two votes, it was heartbreaking
But she didn’t give up, she kept fighting for his legacy
She said he deserved to be enshrined for his contributions to history
Marjorie Adams passed away in 2021
But her spirit lives on in every baseball fan
She went to bat for a baseball pioneer who changed the game forever
She was his great-granddaughter and his greatest defender
This is her song, this is her story

Chat Mode, Microsoft Bing Search
a – Bing, is introducing a new web search engine that can help you find information and answers on the internet. It is a web search engine that can also chat with you and generate various types of content such as poems, stories, code and more. It uses Artificial Intelligence techniques to understand your queries and provide relevant and engaging responses. I thought this may be interesting to some so, below find one of our sessions. If there is interest, I have some other fascinating tidbits I will share later.
I like the first one more than the second. This AI stuff is so strange yet hard to not be somewhat fascinated with.

“Unsettling” knowing the source. Perhaps, I can’t wrap my nearly 77 year old brain around AI. Having known Marjorie doesn’t make the task of reading an artificial rendition of songs about her any easier. Certainly, all intentions are good but it is just the this reader’s tentativeness toward AI.
Thanks 4 experimenting/creating these songs to preview! I feel this is a good idea, but is a work in progress. Marjorie would have chosen the second one, because the first one is too much about her! She was ALL about Doc and would not have wanted any attention/recognition.
