Peverelly’s “American Pastimes”: 1846-1861
Doc Adams is mentioned often in Charles A. Peverelly’s 1868 book, “American Pastimes – Containing a History of the Principal Base Ball, Cricket, Rowing, and Yachting Clubs of the United States“.
The Book of American Pastimes is an American classic and one of the most significant baseball books ever written and is considered the first “official” baseball history in existence. 180 pages out of 556 are devoted to the game of baseball and team histories. It contains tough to find information regarding rosters and game scores during the 1850’s-60’s.
1846
Doc Adams is elected Vice-president of the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club.
1847
Doc Adams is elected President of the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club for the first of the six times he would serve in that capacity until his retirement from the club in 1862.
1848
For the 2nd consecutive year, Doc Adams serves as President.
1849
For the 3rd consecutive year, Doc Adams serves as President.
The Knickerbockers adopted the 1st official uniform.

Doc Adams serves as a Director.
1852
Doc Adams serves as a Director.
1853
Doc Adams serves as a Director.
Adams was appointed to a committee to setup rules with the Eagle Club.
1854
Doc Adams serves as a Director.

Doc Adams serves as a Director.

Doc Adams served his 4th term as President.
Adams was appointed to a committee to call a convention of the various Ball Clubs of this city and vicinity.
1857
Doc Adams served his 5th term as President.
Adams, who led the convention, reported the rules and regulations adopted by the committee.
1858
Doc Adams appointed as a delegate to the 1st convention of Base Ball Clubs.
1861
In his final year with the Knickerbockers, Doc Adams served as President for his 6th and final time.
