2022 Michigan Vintage Base Ball Festival Remembers Marjorie Adams

The 2022 Michigan Vintage Base Ball Festival was held June 24-26 in Frankenmuth, MI. As usual, it was successful festival and a grand time was had by all. The Cornhuskers Base Ball Club of Canton successfully defended the Michigan State Cup twice defeating the Bear Clan BBC of Flat Rock, MI and Walker Tavern Wheels of Brooklyn, MI. Shout Out To Lamson Farm Day

Today, Lamson Farm Day is being celebrated in Doc Adams’ hometown of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire. The Doc Adams Birthplace Classic is traditionally held in conjunction with this event. However, as noted previously, this year’s games were temporarily moved to the Doc Adams Memorial, held on September 16. The Doc Adams Memorial Classic was held on Saturday, September 16 to honor baseball pioneer Daniel Lucius “Doc” Adams, M.D., one of baseball’s most consequential, yet overlooked, pioneers. Adams was a founding father of base ball and author of 1857 Laws of Base Ball. This year, the Doc Adams Birthplace Classic took a brief hiatus, as play shifted to Connecticut as the Doc Adams Memorial Classic. This marked the first time the annual event was hosted in the state where Doc Adams attended college (at Yale) and spent his “retirement” years.
