Doc Adams in The New York Times

Marjorie Adams was interviewed by Corey Kilgannon of the New York Times in “Late Rally for Doc Adams, a Jeter Before There Were Mitts”. The article chronicles Doc Adams’ accomplishments and contributions to the game of baseball, as well as Marjorie’s efforts to gain Doc’s long overdue recognition with induction his into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. 170th Anniversary of the Knickerbockers

On September 23, 1845, by virtue of its constitution and by-laws, the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club was officially formed. Considered by most baseball historians to have been the first officially organized base ball (2 words in the 19th century) club; whether or not the Knickerbockers were the first, their pioneering influence on the development of our National Pastime in its earliest days is certainly agreed upon. In January 1962, Adelaide and Daniel P. Adams conducted an interview of Roger Cook Adams in New York City. Fortunately for us, they made an audio recording of that interview. Marjorie Adams attended a Sunday afternoon doubleheader on September 13, between the Dirigo Vintage Base Ball Club and the Boston-based New England Picked Nine in Waldoboro, ME.
