On July 29, 1871, the Board of Directors of the new Ridgefield Savings Bank (now the Fairfield County Bank) elected Dr. Daniel L. Adams as its first president. He would serve in that position over two separate terms for ten of the next fifteen years. His photo still hangs downstairs at the main branch alongside portraits of the bank’s other presidents.
