Show Support For Doc Adams
Tom Fesolowich, President of the Mutual Base Ball Club of New York, recently sent the following call to arms to the Vintage Base Ball commnuity. The intent is to support our education campaign and demonstrate support for Daniel Lucius ‘Doc’ Adams, M.D. to finally receive his long-overdue recognition with enshrinement in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Fellow Ballists,
I am planning a last push for Doc Adams bid to the Hall of Fame. Here’s the concept, we each post something about Doc in our FB news feed, twitter and Instagram. We change our profile pictures to a picture of Doc. We do these things all on the same day September 8 to flood the internet.
Here is how I need your help. Spread this message either in your own words or copy and paste mine to as many people as you can asking that they do the same. Don’t just post it on your news feed reach out to individuals. Then on Sept 8 we all post. Let’s get to Marjories goal of 5,000 signatures NOW! Thanks for your help!

Fesolowich’s call is timely with the Hall of Fame’s induction ceremony scheduled for next week.
Per our recent press release:
Derek Jeter isn’t the only shortstop getting attention from the Baseball Hall of Fame this year. The creator of Jeter’s position is eligible for inclusion into Cooperstown as well, but his name is unknown to most baseball fans.
August 22, 2021 Press Release
Daniel Lucius “Doc” Adams M.D., baseball pioneer and the person credited with creating the shortstop position is eligible for the Early Baseball Era Committee ballot this fall. Though he does not have immediate name recognition, his contributions to baseball are known to even the most casual of fans.
John Thorn, Official Historian of Major League Baseball has referred to Adams as “baseball’s most important figure not in the Hall of Fame.”
If you’ve already signed the petition, thanks!!! If you haven’t, please consider doing so now. In any case, please help spread the word and increase Doc Adams’ visibility. Let’s follow Tom’s lead!
