Hall of Fame Announces Changes to Era Committees
The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced sweeping changes to the Era Committee system. It’s kind of a bad news, good news story. The bad news is two-fold. The first is that the Pre-integration Era Committee is effectively being replaced with the Early Baseball Committee (1871 – 1949) and the next election will not be held in 2018, but will be now occur in 2020. Second, the frequency of consideration is being stretched from 3 years to 10 years.
Now for the good news. It has been confirmed that Doc Adams will still be able to be considered for election via the Early Baseball Committee. Having missed election by a mere two votes in 2015, let’s hope for 2020.
We will continue to educate baseball fans about Doc Adams and his contributions to the modern game of baseball. Thank you for all of your support and help us to continue to spread the word so that we can get Doc his due recognition.
